KEYSTAGE 1 (5-7years old)
Between the ages of 5 and 7, students in the first two years of school—commonly referred to as Year 1 and Year 2—build on their development and knowledge gained in the Early Years Centre.
The curriculum is designed to provide advancement and consistency for every child as a distinct individual.
Children in Key Stage One improve their literacy and numeracy abilities. They also widen the curriculum to include subjects like physical education, music, geography, history, and science.
KEYSTAGE 2 (7-11years old)
Students in this elementary school grade range in age from 7 to 11.
The children learn to cooperate, ask questions, and share their knowledge in a variety of ways during this stage of their development through engaging and interesting courses that are in line with current theories on how kids learn best.
Literacy, numeracy, science, music, geography, history, art, and foreign languages—French and Spanish— and fitness education are among the subjects covered at Key Stage 2.
KEYSTAGE 3 ( 11-14 years old)
At this time, we’ll build on the information and abilities that children acquired over their primary school years, prepare them for the Cambridge Checkpoint by Year 9, and establish the groundwork for IGCSE-level studies and other official exams.
English language, mathematics, science, history, geography, RS, French, German, religious studies, art, dance, drama, music, physical education, design and technology, global perspective, and many more disciplines are studied throughout this phase.
- Parents have the option to request that their children be removed from sex education classes that include relationships, sex, and health.
Children and teenagers need to know how to stay safe and healthy as they develop in a society that is becoming more complicated.
While some schools have chosen to ignore this, the Soundmind Global Learning Center has created a lesson plan that teaches students how to act wisely in the face of sexual assault, bullying, and harassment.
Healthy relationships, boundaries, internet safety, family role models, same-sex partnerships, health education, mental health, and physical health are all topics covered in primary school.
We focus more on relationships and sex education in secondary school, including topics like consent, sexual exploitation, internet abuse, grooming, coercion, harassment, rape, domestic violence, forced marriage, and female genital mutilation.
- Religious Education (RE) -Depending on their religious beliefs or if they are simply interested in learning more about religion, parents can request that their children be enrolled in religious education. Christian and Islamic religious knowledge are now run by us.
KEYSTAGE 4 (14-16 years old)
In KS4, Soundmind thinks it’s important to have a diverse and challenging curriculum. As a result, subjects that are vital to us and universities all over the world remain required. As follows:
Mathematics, English language, English literature, Chemistry, Physics, and Biology.
Additionally, we give students options within the curriculum by offering them electives like French, History, Geography, Art, Economics, and Computer Science.
All of these topics, along with a plethora of others, including physical education, foreign languages (including Spanish and French), sociology, psychology, global perspectives, additional mathematics, accounting, Arabic, agriculture, art and design, Chinese (Mandarin), computer science, design and technology, food and nutrition, geography, German, history, information and communication technology, Italian, music, and marine science.
Tests and Exams
Practices for Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) exams
All children under the age of five are subject to the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). It outlines the areas of learning that should be covered beyond numeracy and reading, including: communication and language; expressive art and design; and personal, social, and emotional development. It also serves to defend the interests of young children and their physical progress alongside the knowledge of the world
SATs
In order to assess students, Scholastic Aptitude Tests are created for Key Stage 1 (Year 2) and Key Stage 2 (Year 6).
Children take the National Curriculum Assessments (also known as SATs) in May of each year at the conclusion of KS1 (Year 2) and KS2 (Year 6).
The National Curriculum’s age-appropriate standards are used to evaluate the kids.
While the KS2 SATs are externally marked, the KS1 SATs are internally marked (by the teachers) (they are sent away with results being returned to the school around 2 months after the tests are sat).
The SATs are used to determine students’ intended grades for secondary education. The SATs are given to pupils by schools to gauge how forward-thinking they are and how successful the school standard is.
11+ Exams
The 11 Plus Exam, a competitive, selective exam used to assign pathways to the following School phase, is written around the conclusion of Primary School. The 11 Plus Exam is given in September, and the actual exam differs depending on the locale and the institution. Four disciplines can be chosen from on the test: math, English, verbal reasoning, and non-verbal reasoning.
